In Australia, I learned two new words: front beach and back beach. UNESCO explains a back beach as "the section of beach extending landwards from the high water mark to the point where there is an abrupt change in slope or material; also referred to as the back shore". The front beach or front shore is the active beach.

An aerial view from the southern end of the promenade of Great Yarmouth. The road is South Beach Parade, and the Pleasure Beach lies to the east with the Barrack Estate opposite. The Scenic Railway is the largest structure at the Pleasure Beach. Beyond the rides of the Pleasure Beach lie the boating lakes, which at this time were still separate from the park. The gardens lie still further beyond.

The Winter Gardens mark the southern end of Marina Parade which continues north to the cinema. The Jetty and Britannia Pier are visible in the distance, and beyond the road and beach curve around to Caister.

This image is circa 1965; and note that the Marina Centre and Atlantis Tower have yet to be contructed.

I just got back from a relaxing week in portugal, but I did manage a couple of arty pics along the way...

We found this scene on the beach a mile or two up from where we stayed, so me and the clones decided to have a bit of fun. Can you spot all 7? lol ;) Disco scarecrow seemed to like it! No idea who made this, it got bigger every day which was interesting. You can't really see but there is a little table, a fire, a couch, and he even has biceps, all made from rubbish on the beach!! Scarecrow also had a dog but alas, he died. RIP disco dog...

A November to January sun angle in the central California coast at sunset shines right through a hole in this big rock, the mist from waves splashes up and puts on a real show!

I almost missed this scene because of bad timing. The only way to get to this beach is a narrow 2-mile road, which you can only go so fast on. I got to this spot only 10 minutes before sunset, and that was even when I ran to the beach. I was a part of a forest of about 10 other photographers. I would've loved to get here early and caught some more yellow light coming through the portal, but I'm still pretty happy with this.

I believe this was a medium tide because low tide barely makes it through the portal and high tide just bursts through it with great force. There were some bigger swells at times though, but I didn't want any sun rays being blocked. This was tough because the sun was so low.

The plastic bottles on this beach could be collected and send into recycling or waste management facility. The garbage on this beach alone is worth thousands of Euros. The pollution with trash comes to this beautiful Malaysian beach from the Chinese sea, where nature destruction is severe because water of rivers and the oceans is used for disposal of hazardous waste. The ocean becomes dirty and polluted.

Sand of the beaches becomes toxic as the bottles are melting in the heat of the sun. This rubbish is not collected by anyone.

Recycling or at least collecting of this trash from the beach would improve the environmental situation and help to ease the global ecological destruction of the limited environment that is disappearing from the map.

Climate change and water pollution are very visible on this Malaysian beach that suffered deforestation and hazardous pollutants which polluted and contaminated nature with plastic junk.
